What Is a Targeted Healing Journal™
A New Way To Journal
If you are somebody who journals, you probably have one book where all your thoughts are laid bare, until you run out of space and need to start a new one. Have you ever tried to find something in particular in a journal like that? I have and it frustrated me. At the time, I wished someone would invent a place to process different emotions or memories that was pretty, thoughtful, and small enough to fit in my purse. Since no one did, I decided to design my own.
My idea took off when it started to help my clients who are healing from abusive situations. The “You Can’t Make This Shit up!” series was born – built for anyone who wants to understand how to effectively and methodically process their emotions. I coach survivors and teach them emotional resilience and the importance of journaling. The exercises I guide them through are the instructions shared in each journal. They are simple guidance to get you started putting pen to paper to begin the journey of sorting out your feelings.
My next series, “My Texting Heaven” journals, were a natural segue to satisfy my own need for closure after the sudden death of my younger sister in 2021. She and her husband were hospitalized simultaneously; he spent five additional months in ICU after she passed. Since he was incapacitated and unable to discontinue her phone service, I began texting her in an attempt to process my grief of missing her. There were so many days when I couldn’t stop thinking of her, I missed her or had a flashback memory, and I needed to share my thoughts with her. Being able to pick up my phone and tell her how much I missed her helped me heal. Even after her phone was turned off, I still needed that lifeline, so I invented this series. When a close friend lost her child, I knew she still had things to say, so I added a children’s cover series. Each journal can be dedicated to its intended recipient to personalize the experience.
This has opened up a new world of journaling to me because I have began discovering new topics that you will soon see as I launch several new upcoming series. I ‘think’ in journals now and have seen firsthand how processing specific emotions in a designated place makes it a much more powerful restorative tool.
By having guidance on how to use these journals, you will empower your sense of well-being. You had the ability to heal your wounds all along and stream of consciousness writing is the only skill you need. These make great gifts for friends who may need guidance too.
